Surprise! Celsius is no longer based on the melting and freezing points of water. It is based on absolute zero and the triple point of water, a state almost never found in nature. As a result, water at sea level does not melt at exactly zero, nor does it boil at exactly 100.
The Celsius scale was redefined to be based on absolute zero, not the properties of water. As a result, water at sea level boils at roughly 99.98 C and melts at roughly -0.0001 C.
This is just silly. If you set aside $2 a month for two years, then you were effectively paying the full rate. So now, at last, you get the two year discount that you should’ve taken two years ago.
