Bluetooth is largely a letdown at this point - there are only a few worthwhile portable speaker setups. I agree, this could be a good solution at least for a couple of years until wireless speakers are just "better" en masse.

For sure. I used to to the same - you can actually just buy tripods with wheel that do the exact same job as this. They are dirt cheap - 30-60 bucks often on special.
