Interesting that you mention the ending not really fitting.  It’s not the original ending.  Originally, Anna Kendrick and Henry Golding end up together and Blake Lively helps Kendrick solve crimes from her prison cell.  The film ended with a marriage proposal musical number.  I guess test audiences didn’t like it so
