they’re running out of ideas... but the biggest is they backed themselves into a corner with the twist at the end of the first season and it keeps trying to live up to that. Second season was fine, but not as good. Now you can actually see them reaching for laughs. Like a stand-up comedian with a “clap” sign.

I wouldn’t be opposed to them skipping the TARDIS entirely this season if possible, it’s what I liked about the early Pertwee stories and it builds the anticipation up for when it shows up.
