It’s not necessarily a bad thing, makes for a more compact engine package, quicker spool times, no “danger to manifold”, and theoretically ideal flow characteristics without need for much improvement.

YES! Let it be done! I’d imagine they would change the turbo orientation, although the high placement would make for shorter chargepipe lengths.

It’s a bit off topic but still related, 21 years ago today we lost this legend. RIP Senna

Something tells me if you can’t speak or read English you’re most likely not “legally” On Social Security.

I completely agree but it seems all manufacturers (except for the new Ford GT350/R) have stuck to this formula of planned delayed introduction of the nicer models.

Manufacturers also do this with the mid cycle refresh in mind, it’s much cheaper to change a mold than to update a press/die, for updated styling or performance models.

They have to leave room for the upgraded trim packages, you can’t put the perfect spoiler on the first model. you put the nice spoiler on the performance cars so people will pay a premium.

That’s by design, it keeps weight off of the extremities but more importantly it’s easier to design. With aggressive bumper cuts the mid cycle refresh as well as performance models are easier to change the styling. You can see this trend in nearly all new cars.

What do you mean four turbos? I don’t believe BMW TwinPower constitutes two true turbos. It’s innovative yes but I see it more as a pair of twin scrolls, than for independent turbos.

Actually the two World Drivers Championship’s came first.

Thanks <facepalm>

(Zoom in. Now... enhance.) It already has hatch glass. At least looks to be glass to me.

He may leave in a few years, I imagine he’ll stay with Merc for at least another WDC. I’d venture to guess he’d like to retire with the Italians.

I agree why would you abandon 100 years of brand recognition? Is there any benefit to detaching the name?

That and the private jet. I doubt he has to worry much about public transit these days.

I’d say it’s a bit ironic that a man on top of his game get’s chastised for his social media and self promotion. While here in the states we have professional athletes that are involved in murder, domestic violence, gang violence, animal abuse, and drug possession.

Now playing

If that distracts you don’t watch this video, it’s much more noticeable when he bounces his leg mid interview. But regardless of his social media the man can drive, you can’t take that from him.
