Get some... GET SOME!!!!
Get some... GET SOME!!!!
So was T.E. Lawrence. I’m in good company.
Ooh-Rah! Make bodies. Kill... That’s some good to go trash...
I’m a Marine, so there’s that. Dark humor man... buck up.
We had UAVs in Vietnam. Google the Ryan firebee. It even had a cool C-130 mothership that would drop them. We used them for BDA (bomb damage assessment) over dangerous areas.
Love the A-10 pilot’s quote... Which can be summed up as, “It was fucking glorious.”
The term you’re looking for is: “Tandem-rotor helicopter.” :)
SILENCE!!! YOU UNWASHED AVIATION-PEASANT! Do NOT call my precious CH-46 SeaKnight (Phrog) an army helo! (Chinook, CH-47... bigger, faster and generally better, but hey, fuck the army...) ;-)
War is hell. Guess Saddam shouldn’t have invaded Kuwait and let his army rape / pillage the place while we WAITED for six months, trying to get a peaceful resolution. We gave Saddam EVERY opportunity to withdraw, save face, etc. HE could have prevented the entire war. But he didn’t, and we kicked his ass. Saddam was…
Tyler, great write-ups on Desert Storm. Glad to see your hard-line journalism coming back. How about a story on the Battle of 73 Easting?
Aye; They retired the ‘46 last year in August. HMM-774 is now VMM-774. Getting their Ospreys soon.
My former NCOIC Gunnery Sergeant Paige was the crew chief in that accident. He cut the pilot and copilot free, shoved a Jr. Marine out of the AO hatch and was pulled down with the bird. His body was never recovered. The bird, a CH-46E (my type) sank in over 2000' of water. It was 1999.
Good to go sir! Former HMM-774 Wild Goose here. NAS Norfolk, VA.
Yes, full of greenbacks we spent to keep Al-Sadr’s Mahdi army under control, amongst others. The ‘surge’ wasn’t just Marines and Soldiers, it was a cash surge just as well.
Dude. I lived the life these poor souls did until they bought it. Your comments don’t matter at all.
Yeah man. USMC CH-46E SeaKnight crewchief here... ; )
Way to misinterpret!
You’re wearing your SV-2 opr new-gen aircrew survival vest. In a helo that hits water, that vest gives you 3-mins of air with the heeds bottle and flotation. Without it, you’re 100% screwed. Helicopters that hit water turn over and sink as fast as possible. (all the weight is at the top...)
If ANYONE worth a damn dies, I care. Of course I’m a father now to a young boy, so that changes your attitude. I’m guessing you don’t have children. Before I did, I was a flippant, brash a-hole of a young man too.
They’re not. Until they are. I withdrew my flight status after 530 hours after a particularly close-call. Still have nightmares to this day.
