I had a 1998 Base 5spd. Oh the fond memories!
HELL YES!!! B.A. Baracus!!!
Okay, so back when I was probably 19 or 20, I was on the formula SAE team for my university and the competition was up near my hometown in Metro Detroit, which was super cool. So the whole team makes the drive up and I, not having a car on campus, and being young and very stupid in general, was having waaaay too much…
Like Stephen said. They’re stock. in 2001 they facelifted the E39. The once halogen bulbs became the new ‘angel eye’ setups. A Xenon HID setup was available, but not sure how common that was.
The six cylinders are not bad concerning maintenance costs. If you can turn your own wrenches it’s actually very inexpensive. Front thrust arm bushings are a common wear-point (causes shimmy at speed, 2 hour DIY, $300 parts), the cooling system need to be replaced about every 100k miles to prevent engine damage…
My 2002 530i w/ Sport and 5spd. I have a set of Style 42s I’m refinishing as the previous owner painted the lips due to the all-too-common corrosion issues that they face. High-polished lips and freshly sprayed centers and inner barrels are going to pop!
Word. I put just over 1000lb of lumber on top of my 5gen Prelude and drove that thing about 10 miles home. I babied it. It rode like a boat, but oh so smooth! Found out when I pulled the roofrack off after it got totaled the roof was dented under each foot pad, LOL. So, yes, if they so please, the average American…
It’s $69.99

This is a great discussion! I am in the process of buying a small used car dealership and leaving the corporate world. I’ve been poking around the value propositions that Carmax and Carvana offer and plan to offer similar 5-day buyback guarantees, powertrain warranties on all cars (1 mo/1k mile to 6 mo/6k mile…
Does anyone else find it amusing (sad?) that here we have a well respected, well spoken, popular figure in car racing explaining HP and Torque, and every single one of the responses seems to be someone saying he’s wrong, someone saying the person saying he’s wrong is wrong, or someone offering a slightly different way…
ooh fun. Dee (like Dee from It’s Always Sunny), Quinn (like Quinn the Eskimo, a song), and Der (like derr, i always herp when I derp). Dee-Quinn-Derr.
Lash-er, like Lash and Her, but no “H” on the “Her”. Lash-er, of course no pause.
But that steering wheel...
Grass-shot, but more of an ‘eot’, so it guess, ‘grash-it’,
you sure that’s an “air blower”?
The GT is FAT. It looks like a fancy Accord Crosstour, which itself is an abomination of automobile design.
Yup. No surprise. I had my Honda broken into at a Metro Detroit Honda dealership when they had it for service. They left it outside behind the building each night. I got a call from them telling me my car had a broken Window and dash (ISO-mounted radio was still there!). Someone had gone after my Alpine deck. I was 20…
Must be a pretty small man, and a pretty flexible orifice.
My father in-law has a yellow '79 FJ40 with 24k original miles, minty fresh. Bought it new and kept it at his hunting camp, garaged, its whole life. Drove it a couple times a year, got the regular maintenance done, yadda yadda yadda. H even took off the original wheels/tires when new; they're still sitting in the…
