Watching Hannibal (the tv series) for the first time. What a cast! Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy are fantastic, and the occasional sprinkling of Gillian Anderson is always a delight. The visual directing is amazing—the food at Hannibal’s table is always shot as decadent to the point of grotesque. What a great show.

Thanks to the BLM protests, streaming services are beginning to amplify black voices- or to be more clear, amplify our movies and shows that have been trying to get people to listen about this very thing. Free. Don’t have to tell me twice!

Did something we hadn’t done in ages and went to the drive in theatre. They had a double feature of Muppet Movie and Dark Crystal. (There are 3 active drive ins about a 90 min drive from NYC) It’s great since you can stay in your car and be socially distant. The drive in is having a Tim Burton evening soon

Or if we’re connected to occupied uteruses.

I recall the tabloids being pretty awful about her personal life, what she was wearing, and her looks. Charles was partially responsible for her eating disorder. Her in-laws used her for her virginal status and reproductive abilities. She bragged about pushing her stepmother down a flight of stairs.

I guess I missed the ‘Diana is Terrible and we should all hate her’ phase of things? I figure the tabloids helped kill her by being part of the paparazzi life cycle?

Thank you so much for writing this. I know the first things the police unions are going to say about defunding is “who will protect your women?”

Then when we’re dead, we’re so amazing, wholesome, maternal, feminine, doting, generous, soft, obiedient, and kind. We’re a blank canvass for whatever anyone wants!

THIS. My partner works as a counselor for victims of DV. The police response routinely results in cases that are “upside down”, in which the the victim is arrested as the aggressor because see their response to trauma as “irrational behavior”. It’s some real bullshit.

We only matter when we’re dead. It’s that simple.

Fragile white person: “White people aren’t the only ones who can be racist, yaknow! Black people are racist against whites all the time!”

So a person wouldn’t be racist in a society where they are powerless, but if they traveled to a society where their ethnicity was in power, the sames views they held in the previous society could now make them racist?

Black people can absolutely be racist, with or without social capital. Any time you’re making broad assumptions about another race, that’s racist. Any time you discriminate against someone because of their race, that’s racist.

I just looked through her IG (until IG kicked me off for not having an account). That Yoda cereal is like the least creative, worst looking thing she bakes. Her other stuff is just insanely good.

It’s quite possible you’ve only met three gender fluid people who felt comfortable publicly identifying as such; I know quite a few people who do. Of course, the more accepting we as a society get about gender fluidity, the more people will feel safe proudly stating that this is what they are.

How do intersex people prove anything about trans ideology? Gender is a sociological construct, not a biological one.

It said, very loud and clear, fuck y’all we are cops.

I still can’t get over those officers resigning. What do they think it shows besides them standing up for the right of the police to assault anyone at any time?
