i’m 72, charter subscriber to “Ms Magazine”, retired cop, worked in the ‘real’ world from 1963 - 77, assigned some sex crime investigations off and on from 1977 - 90. i’ve talked to my friends from the cop shop and the other part of life and most of us agree with you, Alicia. je suis fatiguée...

The Tories have done a lot to make this particular vulnerable person less lonely, in that I now spend a lot of time discussing with other vulnerable people how the Tories can all shit off into the ocean.

Also completely ignores the fact the Tories are largely responsible in the first place.

commisioner to see if we can’t push those lonely people over the edge so we don’t have to pay them any benefits.

Woman who has destroyed social care and the very parts of the safety net that kept an eye on the elderly and vulnerable is now suddenly giving a fuck about loneliness.

Maybe they should start by reversing all this austerity nonsense and prioritizing community well-being over neoliberal hellscapes. Until we do that, loneliness isn’t going to be solved.

I’m not sure what your point is. Are you saying that publications like the NY Times, the WA Post and other credible news sources just make up anonymous sources? A lot of sources for a lot of important stories are anonymous. But they are anonymous only to the reader, not the journalist, who knows who they are and can

Holy Fuck, the trolls are out today. This comments section reads like a Reddit MRA thread.

From this word salad of stupid you’ve proven you wouldn’t recognize the truth if it smacked you in the face. Although your reign of terror tripe is the icing on the willfully ignorant cake. Congratulations on that.

I’m pretty sure this post’s comment section wasn’t meant for debating the merits of #metoo and Aziz Ansari and sexual harassment and sexual assault claims. Like, based on the post content, 99.9% sure.

Thank you.

Was anyone else struck by the fact that all 37 got abortions? In the US if 37 were pregnant maybe 2 of them would have gotten abortions. That’s what a progressive country looks like. Get abortions! Free abortions for everyone! Babies are the worst!

They don’t wear Lederhosen in Northern Germany.

Since Schleswig Holstein is as far north as possible and thus very far away from Bavaria....nope. ;-)

You’re right, I was responding to Virgina in VA’s many other posts where ‘she’ subtly blames women for everything and extrapolated back. I don’t believe ‘she’ is acting in good faith or honestly. In other words, ‘she’ is trolling.

Patrick: Did you not consider this issue before or during the writing of the article? Because this counterpoint to your advice is widely available in any even minimally feminist space and the article is lacking without it. Captain Awkward would be a great place to start.

I’ve said this elsewhere but the reason women tend not to do this 1) society asks us to take care of men’s feelings and 2) Some do not respond well to a straight up ‘no thanks’, and the consequences for misjudging can be very harsh indeed.

Oh if only it were that easy. The problem is that “I’m not interested,” regardless of how nicely it’s said pisses some men off. Then they turn crazy. And by crazy I mean they send you angry, threatening emails for months, creating new profiles, or finding you on LinkedIn, Facebook, or other dating websites to harass

Knowingly going after people who are in relationships is a bit offensive, as if they should betray or end something they’ve built up with someone often over many years just because you want them to. Why would you want to date someone who gives up so easily? Why would they want to date someone who values relationships

I’ve been with my boyfriend for 9 years. Trust me, I’m “off the market.”
