I imagine "things get weird" refers to the too close, suffocating, professional/personal dynamic between Stewart's character and Binoche's character, since there's no lesbian relationship between them in the film. They read lines to each other, and the characters they read have a lesbian relationship, but that's it.

I saw it at a film festival recently, and it was decidedly meh. I really wanted to like it, and I like what they were trying to do...but it just left me cold. It was intellectually interesting but I just didn't care about the characters.

Yeah, I mean it in the earlier sense. A judge should be disinterested but not uninterested, going by what I learned in school. If I accept that disinterested and uninterested now mean the same thing, then I have to accept that literally can now mean figuratively, and that's a step I'm not willing to take.

It probably depends what part of the UK you live in - the postcode lottery, right? When I lived in Wales I got a letter EVEY MONTH for a year telling me to come in for my pap smear as I was over 22 and they said it was a totally essential procedure. My old address probably still gets those letters.
