You realize the .gif is in the post, right? Klay’s clearly getting shoved mid-air.
This is literally the worst reason to pull the refs - the rich man gave us money and the rich man is mad now. I would think they’d do whatever they could to avoid the appearance of influence peddling when it came to their officiating but maybe not?
Eakin should have been a minor penalty at most, and the only reason for the severe punishment is the intensity of the damage it inadvertently caused.
I’m trying to avoid responding to all the grays on this one. You’re not in the grays, but this is a response to all of them as well.
This is profoundly stupid. Two of the best refs taken out because Vegas collapsed.
We should really all stop and think about what we’re putting these poor racist kids through with our hurtful observation of their racism.
FWIW, “Making Coco” the Grant Fuhr documentary that was released last year was interesting in how he described his experience as a black hockey player. First, that he never really experienced racism growing up in Northern Alberta. Second, that the first time he experienced racism was when he was a Sabre and was denied…
There’s that, but I’m a bigger fan of the eventual NYT op-ed that will note no one specifically said they were making the monkey noises because he’s Black, you’re just assuming that so you must be the real racist!
If the second half is anything like the first, I’d rather go to church.
They mentioned something about hitting a defenseless receiver. How he’s considered untouchable while holding the football is a mystery, and leads me to believe the NFL just wants a certain team to win.
I think they settled on “You can’t tackle him until he becomes a runner,” which is the stupidest rule I’ve ever heard, and that is saying a lot for the NFL.
What a sad scary time to be a young, upper-class, white male. Thoughts and prayers.
“Fear was not our reason”
Won’t somebody think of the (white) children?!?!
I think the persecution of teens like this is really getting out of hand. Between the Covington students and this it’s starting to look like the only place for teenagers to be racist is every single comment section on the internet, the entirety of social media and whenever you play any video game online.
I don’t think we should comment until we see the WHOLE game.
If that picture isn’t a perfect distillation of 400 plus years of white colonialism, I don’t know what is.
White privilege is the media falling over itself to apologize when it thinks it misread a situation. If these were African-American kids, we never would’ve seen alternate video or explanations.
