There was an episode of Law and Order: Criminal Intent where a Deaf person murders a doctor who was giving cochlear implants. Mainstream media is full of this kind of propaganda.

ITA, of course it’s a good thing for kids to be part of a community of other Deaf people. We want them to have role models to show them anything is possible when one is Deaf. But I think there are parents of Deaf kids who /desperately/ want to make deafness “go away,” and this piece seems to play into that…

I was shocked by some of the claims in that piece. I’d refute it by pointing out how well bilingual children do in other pursuits.
