I think it works reasonably well. I’ve always liked the candy/sweet theme of Android releases. It’s cute and fun and brings a bit of jauntiness to what can otherwise be a rather sterile enterprise.

You’re right to advise caution here as clearly this may not work for every type of presentation, but I suspect the majority would benefit from this approach. It’s fantastic for optimising audience engagement.

Great point. Reminiscent of the old Steve Martin adage about being, ‘so good they can’t ignore you’ (co-opted by Cal Newport for one of his books).

Yeah, very true and definitely worth bearing in mind the next time you’re tempted to splurge on a pricier hotel. Once you crunch the numbers it’s often just not worth it.

This looks really nice. Definitely something I would consider. I’m really interested in how the curve of the screen affects the image. Does it make you feel like you’re more immersed in what you’re viewing?

I’ve always been intrigued by these services. It’ll be interesting to see what effect this will have on how much you spend on restaurants and takeaway.

True. But there’s such a thing as taking armchair travelling too far.

Ah. I assumed it was a pet. Was just thinking that my two-year-old would love her:)

Yeah, precisely. There’s going to be nothing but bickering for much of the coming months (years?).

And the profile pic is a chill pill:)

An impressive collection of travel guides on the shelves. Someone gets around a bit.

Really good advice. And five hours chimes with what I’ve experienced as a rough minimum for something in which you want to attain reasonable proficiency (this will obviously vary according to the complexity and novelty of the skill).

This is something to monitor in the coming months. Many reputable outlets on both sides of the Atlantic have been reporting the possibility of Brexit never coming to pass.

Lovely workspace. I’m sure it’s a joy to spend time there. And the fawn is adorable:)

This may be a fairly niche preference, but I’m getting back into reading after many years away and I’ve really been enjoying the scent of the ink and paper. Perhaps hard to believe but it’s been a factor (although not the primary one) in my reluctance to abandon printed books.

As you say, Google provokes a lot of anxiety with the enormous and unprecedented volume of data they hold about most people’s lives but I’m somewhat reassured by their attempt to be transparent about the information and to offer ever-improving utilities for monitoring and removing it.

Yeah, it’s a great tool and very versatile. I sometimes use Asana for other projects but keep coming back to Trello.

I recall Tim Ferriss mentioning something similar in an interview I once heard. He’s done pretty well investing in a number of prominent startups but apparently avoids putting in money when he doesn’t have a good grasp of the technology or core principles of the investment.

I’m on the wrong side of the pond but I can’t let this pass without mentioning the fantastic loyalty program offered by UK-based Waitrose. A free cup of coffee and newspaper with every visit. No purchase required (and I’ve called their bluff on this many a time). Highly recommended.

For the most part I rarely use my laptop very far from a power outlet so less-than-spectacular battery life isn’t a big deal to me. I’m more interested in squeezing as much performance as I can out of the machine.
