I’m looking at an i7 with 16Gb of RAM and a 512Gb SSD. Isn’t $1000 a little low?

I’m not up on the science here. Does Deet pose a proven danger to children?

That’s fantastic. I’m looking at picking up one of their XPS 13s so this is really helpful. Congrats on your score:)

Hey Alan, have really been enjoying Brain Buffet. Keep it coming:)

I suppose. I thought perhaps that you’d found you feel more anxious when you’re sweating.

If you’re on the phone, what difference does it make how much you sweat?

As you mention there’s a lot to be said for keeping in touch with former employers after leaving a job via occasional emails or instant messages. I like to set up a reminder on Wunderlist to get in contact every few months just to keep the embers glowing.

This is great. Reliable and accessible internet can be life-changing for low-income households. It can be an enormous help when it comes to job hunting and continuing education.

Yeah, me too. Definitely a positive addition to the browser landscape.

Is this something that’s likely to migrate to the non-dev version?

Here’s hoping this kind of thing gets picked up by school syllabuses in the coming years. Our children’s employability may depend upon it.

Nice review. This looks like an interesting book with a lot of good information, but I’m one of those people who’d find the hackneyed, desperate humour irksome and a bit patronising. I think it’s a shame writers and publishers feel the need to sex up a serious book with sub-sitcom gags.

Alongside this it’s always worthwhile to spend some serious time doing reconnaisance of the area in which your new home is located (and at various times of the day and night). You never know what might turn up.

This does strike me as heavy-handed. If anyone wants to jeopardise the security of their system (or doesn’t believe that going without an antivirus is hazardous) this should be a matter for them to decide rather than the vendor of their operating system.

Yeah, I suppose that is something to wonder about.

‘Barking up the wrong tree’ is one of the best sites around for this kind of stuff. Would love to see the author profiled for ‘How I work’.

Would be interesting to know if Amazon’s going to be willing to take a more liberal attitude to VPN-induced variations in IP address than Netflix. This could end up being a commercial advantage for their otherwise considerably less popular streaming service.

I recall Chris Guillebeau of the Art of Non-conformity blog offers a premium travel-hacking service that helps people find better deals on flights and such. Glitch-fares are one of the things he and his team get into. I can’t remember the membership fee but it’s not too much and he’s got some good stuff on picking up

Really good advice. From what I’ve seen a great many people seem to put almost no thought into how they’ll fill their days once work no longer beckons. It can end up being a rather dreary existence. Far better to spend your time pursuing the things you love.

A not unreasonable prediction. If the Wunderlist acquisition is anything to go by, Microsoft may have developed a knack for being hands-off. Time will tell.
