I've always liked staying abreast of job opportunities on a continuous basis, even if I'm happy at the post I'm at. I like the idea of knowing what my next move is likely to be if I suddenly find I need to jump ship.

Very cool. So you're already in the field rather than making a switch as such?
I'm at the very earliest stages of Codecademy's syllabus and planning on working my way through in the coming months. As far as making a career switch goes, how much value is there in paying for online courses as opposed to using free resources like Codecademy? Is there stuff that you just can't pick up on the cheap?
Really useful article. I've always wanted to yoke the benefits of engaging with more people around me but have generally lacked the nerve. Am going to use some of this to give me a push.
Really nice utility. Thanks a lot Melanie:)
Thanks for sharing this Heather. Absolutely epic:)
This definitely rings true. I think there's a lot to be gained in being reflective and deliberate about the important things in life.
Nice article. Lots of good stuff there.
I think this is fantastic:) There's so much of your bucket-list you could tick off in ninety minutes a day.
Great tip:) Keeping up with an exercise routine when travelling can be a real challenge (as can maintaining a healthy diet) and scheduling an appointment this way makes it much more likely you'll stick to your plans.
This sounds terribly eccentric, but don't knock it till you've tried it I suppose. Lately I've been giving alpha-poses a try and there seems to be something in them (they'd been recommended in a TED talk and a string of blog posts).
I've been trying to do more of this lately and have to admit it usually does the trick:)
Congrats on the new job:) Hope you make a big splash.
I've found that fairly humdrum lifestyle changes can make a pretty decent difference in energy levels at the end of the day. You've probably heard it all before, but maintaining regular meals, keeping well-hydrated and cultivating good exercise habits can often spill over into greater productivity.
I truly admire your industry:) What genre do you write?
Just idle curiosity, but why '404'? What does the number signify?
Fantastic post Melanie, lots of good stuff:) I think you rightly emphasise the need to view self-promotion as a necessary part of creative work rather than a sleazy, excruciating exercise.
Yeah, there's a world of difference between the web clippers on Firefox and Chrome. I've never quite understood why the one on Firefox has been allowed to become so under-developed.
#Remember me to one who lives there...:)
