If you haven’t read The Vision (2016) collection, check it out. It’s bonkers and fantastic and sounds (kinda) thematically similar to the show.

Agree. Also, imagine having to write a present-day WW movie and skirting around all of the events and details of the other DCU movies that came before, especially the one that was, at the time, getting a whole new edit. It would be a nightmare. Setting it in 1984 made a lot of sense.
