TIL that LG stands for Lucky Goldstar.

I’m also kind of torn on this result since you definitely want to discourage IP theft, but not slow EV development.  I wish they would have done some sort of punitive profit-sharing from SK to LG Chem where SK can build out their production without limits, but have to share a percentage of profits with LG Chem for,

This is only about the A-segment cars. So cars like the Smart and Fiat 500. Cars smaller than a Yaris, which is B-segment.

Makes sense, but I wonder if they’ll size up a bit without going all the way to SUVs. Cars like the ID.3 and ID.4 becoming the smallest option, rather than the Up and Polo, for example.

I mean honestly, 90% of what 90% of even Americans do with cars can be done with something like a Panda. Last time I went to Germany, a customer had an A class M-B and there was plenty of room for 3 adults for a short trip.

100% agree with this. I’ve spent a lot of time in Germany, and there’s just no way. Everyone I know drives a small hatchback, except the one guy who drives a Seat wagon.

I’ve been saying for a long time there needs to be a push from manufacturers to entice people into smaller cars that are more efficient. I daily

Europe won’t suddenly switch en masse to Suburbans, it means the A segment is dying and more people will buy more Nissan Qashqais.

There’s still a space issue. I spent the fall of 2019 walking and driving around France, Belgium, and Spain. There’s no way the roads (especially in the cities and towns) can handle everyone driving large SUVs. Yes they exist (I know a guy who drives an Escalade ESV in a small Belgian town) but they’re rare. I saw a

More because of gas taxes and CO2 taxes. But if cars get more expensive across the board, it’s the low end of the makret that goes away as people choose mass transit instead. People who are more likely to NEED a car probably need a larger car, and if they can afford the price of entry, they can afford more car

Especially with a Nissan CVT

and the “front locking trunk” where the engine used to be will be a bonus for truck buyers.

So Nissan may be moving away from CVTs?

If they merge with that clothing store, they’ll be H&MMMMMM.

And then they drove home in cars with “Buy American” stickers plastered all over them, and complained loudly when their friends and family started buying Toyotas and Hondas made by people that gave a shit about quality.

I’ve heard this story. This is what I’m thinking about every time somebody is shouting “BUY AMERICAN” on the internet.

I used to work with a bunch of former Ford workers. They told me they liked to eat their lunch on the line and just throw the trash behind the panels in the footwell.

I had a friend who worked for Ford for a week. He attached brake pedals. He admitted he attached them very badly. "If you are driving a Ford Taurus and the brake pedal fell off, I'm sorry, it was me."

Reminds me of this fun one:

I bet they gave him a stern torquing to.

Equus was a great name. The new names are lazy. I drive one lol
