Mostly because you’re happy to tell her what to do as long as she does what you want her to do. Which is exactly what you seem to be railing against: Allowing women to make decisions for themselves. Stop telling this woman what to do. I know you respect her enough to respect her choices that she made.

Your gender is not inherently fucked up! Avoid getting into that complicated hole because it isn’t true.

What seems to be true is that anyone given regular power over others cannot help but be corrupted by it and blind to it. Men typically being given power over others leads to fucked up, entitled behaviour that causes

If you live in an apartment, where I’d imagine most poor people live, I’m fairly certain (though I’d have to check) a working stove is a legal requirement. As I’d imagine a working refrigerator and freezer are as well. So that’s a) and b) checked off.

Ehh, the whole food desert theory has some pretty glaring flaws and reeks of classism (not accusing you specifically, but a lot of people who push the idea don’t spend too much time in these neighborhoods). The research that seemed to prove the “food deserts” made some assumptions that didn’t hold up in later studies.

“It’d be better if poor people enjoyed the same tax breaks and loopholes that the ultra-wealthy do. OH WELL.”

“Poor people try to work more jobs to make ends meet,”

Really? $120 worth of meat? Try maybe $40. Maybe.

Really? Poor people are working more than 80 hours per week? I have a fair share of poor friends, as in below federal poverty line. In fact, I was one while in school. I call absolute BS on that statement.

I’m going to have to disagree on the whole “no time” thing.

How dare those people need to work a little to get their free money. There should just be a guy on the street handing out hundos to those who want it.

Fun fact: the original Trilogy is actually a crypto-argument against bureaucratic bloat and deficit-spending-based stimulus packages.

An employee “should” be paid whatever the service is worth to the employer. Period.

Real Women Have Curves, But I’m a Cheerleader, Dear White People

Does anyone watch the show? I have been, and I have to say while her concerns are certainly warranted - she seems just as petty and vindictive as anyone on the set, and that is saying A LOT. Hollywood is just awful.

The only way you can get that out of what happened is if you’re looking for the big, bad white man to be a dick.

“clueless white people” To me that reads like marginalizing language that singles out people by race and then disparages them.

I was with her until that shady bullshit when she told the pretentious douche he could shoot what he wanted and then when the HBO guy was there she acted like she never said that. I backed it up and she absolutely told him he would be able to shoot the stunt the way he wanted. Then she feigns ignorance about the whole

Usually those threads are outnumbered by posts like yours. Always more posts about “can’t wait for those comments to roll in” than the actual comments about those jokes.

She’s funny ‘cause she’s a woman. That makes her a feminist.
