Give me Mariah on her worst day singing over J. Lo on her best. (But yeah, the mighty has fallen an octave or two.)

So basically both Divas did what they do best:
oh yeah, hole sounds way less scandalous than areola.
Yo, I read a tweet today that perfectly sums up my feelings about TayTay.
When you vote GOP, this is what you’re voting for.
People get less than 20 for rape or murder.
I would like an explanation of this as well. It’s like the boyfriend actually was the one who stole the damn car and kidnapped the employee, and she is getting the harsher sentence.
Seconding this. And as I said in another comment: something seems odd here with that sentence. Twenty years for driving off with a car salesman? That’s shitty, but I mean, twenty years? There has to be something else happening here.
TWENTY years for driving off with a car salesman? I mean, that’s an awful thing to do, but there has to be more to the story here, right?
Star accepted a plea bargain, copping to aggravated kidnapping in exchange for a 20-year sentence. She is scheduled for release in 2022. (According to the Times, her ex-boyfriend was released on parole in 2013. Star became eligible for parole in 2012.)
I love you.
The best part is, the same white people moving into those bklyn buildings paying the 2000 dollar rent are most likely Lilly white yuppie jez commenters who know that they are helping displace POC tenants, but at the end of the day they don’t really give a fuck.
I’ve worked in real estate for close to 10 years as an agent and as a manager and now as a teacher. I teach Fair Housing to real estate agents which adds another layer to this shit. And let me tell you about how I applied for an apt in Brooklyn (Prospect Lefferts Garden), was approved and told to come to the lease…
It’s called, “being middle class.”
“I know it’s a little bit racist but it’s not.”
It’s funny, because I was raised in the inner city - the heart of Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn - and I’ve always felt that I was “different from other black people” I think that has nothing to do with where you were raised but the values instilled by the people doing the raising. I’m an individual and there is no one…
I had and have a solidly middle class existence. There’s always been a black middle class. Well-taken care of black people aren’t unicorns.
That, and these folks imagine themselves as some sort of Harlem Renaissance 2.0. They want us to be in awe of how “enlightened” and outside of the box they pretend to be. These are not scholars, practiced academics, nor are they new age revolutionaries. To me, they’re a bunch of entertainers trying to appear…
It’s not about getting the right voice for the black community in this case. It’s about telling these celebrities - who have exponentially more exposure and influence than your average black professional - to STFU about their skewed perspective.
It’s very much like when women take a public stance that sexism doesn’t exist or that they’ve never encountered it, because those women want to be more appealing to men, be it politically, sexually, or on a business level.
