“If a person of color wants to embrace their cultural identity by wearing their hair in a certain style, they should be free to do so without fear of prejudice,”

Of course, I’m not at all saying “poor CBP workers” even about my people I deal with. It’s just interesting, especially as contrasted with ACAB type messaging, where I can get on board with all cops are to blame for not outing the bad ones. This is so different, but ultimately the greater point is the one you started

I hate shit like this...not your comments as they’re spot on, but the situation and stories like this.  I work with CBP daily for my career, not for them, but in international trade so I don’t work with the INS/ICE side, but still.  I’ve worked with a lot of diverse and great people at CBP.  We’re far from the border

Are you joking?  Anyone in this administration is going to get way with all of their crimes against humanity...we’ll be lucky if a meaningful number just fade away quietly, but most will still be around in other public office, lobbying, writing circle jerk books, and get paid to speak about how hard everything was on

Well, since 2019 has been roughly 14 years long, I could see how you’d make that mistake.

“What she didn’t and more to the point shouldn’t appreciate is a bunch of first time congresswomen coming for her and trying to shove her out of the way as if she has accomplished nothing. Let’s be honest “The Squad” is good at self promotion and branding they needed to learn about governing and acted like they knew

I don’t recall much shit being flung at Maxine ever like it was at Pelosi, so for that reason and others I wouldn’t lump the two of them together. Pelosi is still a gatekeeper and answers to an alarming amount of corporate (especially in healthcare) interests. So while she ended up handling this very well, I think the

As someone who blows money on similar beers, I get what you’re saying. But also, if homeboy up here is saving up for an extended period of time (especially a year or more) to blow $250-$300 on what amounts to a shot of overpriced liquor, he has monumentally fucked up priorities no matter how one defines frugality.

Entirely a fair assessment, and partly my point about this guy kicking up the extra $50 in tip.  Like laughably numerous things in this country, the tipping system is a shitshow, but the way to fight that is not by getting a $400 dinner bill and tipping less than 20% because you splurged on crazy overpriced booze for

I don’t think I’ve ever spent more than like $120/pour of anything and it wasn’t really worth it unsurprisingly.  I also don’t honestly begrudge this guy his choices of what to do with his money, just pointing out his claims of being “frugal” don’t really jive with a $250-$300 pour of booze.  Sure I’m being a bit

For a variety of reasons, yes.  As is pointed out elsewhere, if you can blow $250 just to show off, then you can bump it to $300 to tip like a normal human being with that kind of money.

Pappy is an extreme outlier exactly because of clout sharks like this guy and marketing.  Scotch doesn’t have as much of that because of lesser marketing here and greater variety of things that considered the cream of the crop.  However, as a big scotch guy, I get your point about being able to spend $300 once for an

Hey champ, clue phone: if this guy can find a $250 pour of “rare” whiskey near him, he’s in a big city too.  And if you need to pay $250 for a pour of booze to chase clout, you damn well better tip 20% as tax on being a showy bitch.

Not when the pour is just lumped into your normal/complete dinner bill.  That’s bullshit.

AT THE BAR...at retail it’s probably about $1k-$2k for something a bar charges $250/pour for.  And it’s not always gonna be 2ozs, a regular shot volume of 1.5ozs is a little more reliable estimate.  Meaning clout shark letter writer would have to pay more than $5k for this bottle retail to not come out ahead on

As I pointed out elsewhere, if you’re paying $300 (with proper tip) at a bar/restaurant, I can basically promise you that you’ll find the bottle for less than the roughly $5200 break even point online somewhere.  Also, to be able to find something that “rare” and overpriced he likely lives in a larger city where the

Yeah, and?  $2000 for something this jabroni is paying $300 (if he tips properly) for 1.5ozs of is still a better deal.  And with the proliferation of whiskey clubs and brokers and exclusive sites, you can find almost anything you’re looking for if you’re willing to pay.  And it’s almost always guaranteed to come out

False.  It’s clout.  Go find an entire bottle for $1000 or so and spare me getting 6 ozs for the same price so you can broadcast your bankroll.

Nah, I’m a big whiskey (of all ilks) guy, and it’s clout chasing.  You don’t pay $250 for a shot (because it is often about a 1.5oz pour on average) of whiskey that’s actually worth $250/pour.
