Lawson is a fun story - it started out as a retail outlet at a dairy farm in Ohio. It eventually became a chain of convenience stores throughout the Midwest and eventually expanded to Japan. The US branch ended up being sold multiple times - what little remains are a bunch of Circle K stations in the Ohio area that

I’ve been tempted to do this a number of times, but my local supermarket has precooked cans of Nestle La Lechera dulce de leche right next to the La Lechera sweetened condensed milk at the exact same price, so...

I’ve passed by Polar Cave a dozen times (I’m a Sundae School/Four Seas guy) but if I go to Cape Cod in the future, I’ll be sure to stop by and leave a good tip.

I was thinking pastrami or corned beef (Reuben?) for NY. It’s kind of weird how they get some of them right and others are way off the mark.

I’ve always been puzzled that the “nose-to-tail” movement is simultaneously grossed out by the idea that some meat products are made from the less saleable parts of the animal. As long as you’re not doing weird stuff like treating it with chlorine or whatever else the “pink slime” mania was about, how is using the

This was going to be my own comment. The number of people who snag, rip or injury themselves on these door handles is gonna be a problem. I’m not necessarily against the concept, but this particular design, jutting out as it does, doesn’t seem like a great one.

Pastorelli’s is the flavor of my youth (and is right down the block from the Bridgford Pepperoni factory). When my mom made “homemade pizza”, it was always Pastorelli’s.

My favorite hot sauce is regionally popular (in Louisiana) but otherwise hard to find - Panola’s Bat’s Brew.

I never said it was out of love. But you can easily stare down a cat.

“Only dogs seek human eye contact” is a common myth, but a myth nonetheless. Most domesticated animals are comfortable with human eye contact and many actively use it for the same purposes as dogs do. Horses, cows and even goats will use eye contact specifically for the purpose of seeking help like dogs do.

Those of us who live up by Evanston are glad there is one in Evanston. :D

Custard pies are delicious. I forget what they renamed the Crack Pie, but that’s a seriously tasty custard pie that contains your weekly supply of sugar.

I’m afraid Allison takes this one in a cake walk...

Looks very similar to the following recipe, which was enthusiastically enjoyed by a Veda fanatic, so it sounds like you’re on the right path.

Diastatic malt powder is commonly used in baking (easy to get on Amazon and fairly cheap). It is simply untoasted barley malt flour, so I’m guessing you could toast a little in a skillet and perhaps get similar results. Worth a try.

You scream “die” while rushing a candidate for President, a stiff arm from Jill Biden is the least of your worries.

I 100% blame our mutual friend, Dennis Lee. He’s a bad influence on da youts.

Thank you for taking the hit on this one, Allison. I saw nothing in that slideshow that would make me even pause while barreling down the local highway, having not eaten in three days due to the Federales chasing me, while passing a Wendy’s. Wendy’s has upped its social media and industrial design chops (seriously,

What world were you living in? I saw lots of BoP marketing all over the place - trailers, posters, the standard late night shows, etc. etc.
