You thought Empire Strikes Back was bad? You have terrible opinions.

Sure. The rebellion spotted the giant straight shot to the core in a matter of hours, but the Empire had no idea. Which is why they heavily defended the run up to the port with cannons that could only be used against ships flying directly to the port. They had no idea what they were doing. Sure. Because Rogue One

Meteors are amazing at destroying planets. Large enough, they’ll turn the surface into molten rock.

Oh, you mean like how the Dearg Star could’ve just put a screen over the exhaust port, or jumped around Yavin to hit the moon immediately? Or like how they could’ve just thrown a rock at the Hoth base and destroy the entire planet’s surface? Or just send in TIE fighters onto Hoth? Or call in reinforcements above

I’m sure your very real friends are very real and the very real model of the very real average voter.

Nah, they care way more about money than perception. Individual voters can lie about their vote to look good while voting for Crash because they got a new Rolex or whatever.

Then they should buy some awards for WW. I’m sure technical awards aren’t that expensive.

It was for makeup and hairstyle. It’s not like they put that on the box or anything.

Well researched.

Because they shouldn’t.

I acknowledged that later in this thread.

But you’d have to prove they don’t think that. Right now you’re making assumptions and that leads to ridiculous claims. Like saying it’s pure sexism to have a man direct a woman in the lead of major movie. And it’s claims like that that hold us back because they’re weak arguments with no proof.

My biggest fear is that we’ll open the doors wide open and allow everyone to do whatever they want, and it’ll still be a male-dominated field simply because more men want to do it. 7% is bullshit, but, frankly, so is 50%. And not because women can’t or won’t do it, but because that’s just not how life works out. It’s

I know it’s easy to say sexism. But just because a white man directed a black man doesn’t mean there was racism on purpose. Just because a man directed a female lead doesn’t mean there was sexism. Sometimes it just means these are the people that got the job. In the Army I had squad that was 50% female. Does that mean

I didn’t mean to imply you said anything. Sorry about that. Tone gets lost in text.

I’m not saying you did. I’m saying this article and Barbara Streisand did.

I’ll agree with that. TDK was something truly special.

I know it’s a circle. And I know success breads more desire.

Yeah, it’s hard to argue that TLJ was carried by a female protagonist. Supported, sure. Not not carried. It was a group effort. Rey, Leia, Poe, Kylo, and Luke all did the heavy lifting. Finn and Rose... not so much.

Yes, I agree. That’s the forest. But that doesn’t mean we need to nominate undeserving women just to nominate women. If we start doing that, we undermine the whole point of equality. And this becomes even more true when there are genuine examples of ridiculous snubs. Gerwig being the prime example.
