So I wouldn't say racing isn't able to generate a profit, but you are right in that in most cases it is a marketing tool

Because most racers aren't business men, and therefore have to employ rather unconventional methods to run their operations. At least that's my guess.

Some raceteams are also looking to race GTE Vipers in the fast growing ELMS. (And Selleslagh Racing Team announced a full season with the old C6 Corvette too!)

I don't think that he will "die" anytime soon, but I fear that he'll be an unconscious potato for the rest of his life. Sounds harsh but that's the most likely scenario, and that sucks.

There's a good reason for that. Renault didn't have the same budget to invest as Mercedes did. Carlos Ghosn basically said that he would allow them 50 Million €, the rest would have to come from customers, which is why 4 customer teams were so important for Renault as they in total had to refinance the V6 development.

Mercedes engines are significantly cheaper than Renault's V6, but they had to pay some sort of fine to get out of the Renault contract.

Maybe, that's a whole different scenario. As I said, if we're talking about consecutive laps I don't see it going more than ~40 minutes. The Audi R8 E-Tron managed to do two 8 minute Nordschleife laps and then the battery was drained, Tesla doubling that would be huge.

Two hours of nonstop trackday driving? I don't think that will happen anytime soon, not if Audi and Mercedes can make two laps of the Nordschleife with their 400k E-cars.

In 2004? I doubt there was anything much better in terms of sat nav when it came out. That's the problem with built in systems anyways: they get outdated so fast.

That's why I love AMG. It's the Mercedes mental facility, the place where mad engineers are transferred to.
