I’m having a lot of trouble getting fussed about a (relatively unknown) black actor being replaced by a (relatively well-known) white actor for a role that he held for only a handful of weeks that was previously played by Josh Groban (and other white dudes) in a play set in 1800s Moscow high society.

OK, well it sounds like this would be a shitty thing to do to ANY actor and not just a black actor.

Apparently Patinkin could only do these three weeks (he has to start filming Homeland) and they’ve sold almost nothing going forward. Apparently it was a last gasp hope to jump start ticket sales. That said, they handled it incredibly poorly and I can’t see how anything will happen other than the show closing.

But he obviously did it to score wokeness points, so Nah.
