The Hate Song feature is important because it reveals what the AV Club actually is: people who are embittered towards artists and just want to express hate and contempt for those who actually create things.

What I hate is that critics are allowed and encouraged to heap endless invective on the people who make the work they criticize, but if an artist response, they are vilified for it.
