He was as bad as Lou Holtz on these broadcasts. Terrible to listen to.
Nothing was better than passing out to the sound of Bob Ross’ voice on Saturdays when I was a kid. Now, it’s got a bullshit name like ASMR, but the end result is the same.
Her mistake is disallowing for the transgender experience of being female. Yes, Bruce Jenner enjoyed a life of white male privilege for many decades. So, yes, Greer is 100% correct that he has no frame of reference to what it means to be female for most women.
ROTJ kicks ass for so many reasons. When I saw it for the first time, I remember the biggest thrill being Luke entering Jabba’s palace for the first time as a Jedi. It was the first time in the trilogy that we got to see a Jedi in action. Obi-Wan chops off a guy’s arm and sneaks around the Death Star, but when push…
Looks like the kind of comic that gets printed on the back of a cereal box.
Harbaugh in a nutshell. If he turned the ball over on downs, MSU probably wouldn’t have scored. But he tried to punt, and they took it to the house. That’s his so-close-yet-so-far career in a nutshell.
The drive from MSG to Coney Island is no joke! Frank did that kid a huge favor.
It’s great for baseball that bat flips are becoming permissible.
Elimination games are the best. That was the craziest, most intense inning of baseball I’ve seen in a long, long time. If it’s not Game 5, you don’t see 3 errors in a row from the Rangers. You don’t see the Umps reviewing non-reviewable plays. It was an hour of riveting television.
Replay has made baseball significantly less aggravating. Shit like this is par for the course, but it is far outweighed by the good that is accomplished with replay. Now, we just need to get rid of umps calling balls and strikes.
Radiolab is a radio show, not a podcast. There’s a huge difference between what This American Life does, and what most podcasts do. Serial was a highly produced radio show that was just released in the podcast format.
So what’s an example of a truly transcendent podcast? I’d seriously love to know.
30 for 30 has clearly turned into a nostalgia racket for ESPN. Everyone seems to get a turn at directing one. Ken Jeong, Hannah Storm... I feel like Molly Qerim’s 30 for 30 about Cari Champion will drop any day now.
I think “I don’t get” is a pretty crystal clear signal to everyone that I’m talking about my own personal tastes. After all, you picked up on it.
The suspension is the right thing to do, but honestly, I’m going to miss seeing Matt Harvey drill Chase Utley at Citi Field. That would make for great TV. It’s not baseball. More like WWE, but those moments are always a ton of fun to watch, like Pedro taking down Don Zimmer.
Coghland was out of the base path, going straight at Kang, and to top it off, he did Cobra Kai sweep of the leg to end Kang’s season. Nothing clean about it. Not as dirty as Utley, but that’s not saying much.
Yeah, I really enjoyed his column about last year’s Superbowl. That’s him at his best.
Certainly that’s what people keep telling us. I don’t doubt that it’s true to some extent. After hearing a really funny story Seth Rogen told on WTF, I started listening to it regularly, but those moments are few and far between. It’s a problem that most podcasts I’ve listened to seem to have. Not to sound like…
