Maybe I'm unusual in my dislike of movies about teenagers, but I honestly don't know anyone who wants to revisit high school or would willingly hang out for two hours with a teenager that they're not mentoring or related to. Maybe that doesn't necessarily translate to their choices of escapist entertainment, I dunno.

Why, does something happen to him?

Which part?

It seems like there's a new Spider-Man movie every Thursday, and nobody seems particularly happy with any of them.

I am indeed! Though I haven't been active on the forums in… god, it must be at least a couple of years.

Yeah, I've heard people complain about Tolkien's prose before while also being massive HP fans, and it's just baffling to me. The difference in prose quality between LOTR and HP is the difference between the King James Bible and the back of a Froot Loops box.

I missed my window for getting into Harry Potter. I didn't read the books as they came out, because, insufferable hipster child that I was, I had an idea that they were "baby books" that I was too old for even then (I was 12 when the first one came out). Besides, I was just discovering and falling in love with Tolkien

Say someone obtained sexually explicit footage of you and published it without your consent. Do you think you would be within your rights to sue them, or would that contribute to "silencing the media?" What more appropriate course of action would you pursue?

Say some media organization — let's call them "Squawker" — obtained sexually explicit footage of you, and published it without your consent. How would you respond? What do you think would be an appropriate course of action?

"this was never about whether Gawker itself was worth saving. It’s about whether we should allow any publication to be silenced by someone with an agenda and a whole lot of wealth."

Key & Peele Meet the Mummy (2020)

Shit, you're right! They've been doing this since 1940!

Great, now we're never going to get another female Ancient Evil That Has Been Awakened From Its Timeless Slumber.

They could start that way and slowly grow the shared universe as the series goes on. They've done it before, with the same monsters.

I don't think anyone at Universal likes the original Mummy (1932) all that much, because every time they reboot it they change everything about it.

Well, y'know, the "self-proclaimed" part is implied with Maher.

He's only been a liberal these last couple of years. Until then he called himself a libertarian.

Bill Maher is a Smugness Elemental. Even when he's saying things I agree with 100%, I want to slap him in the teeth.

I mean, I get it. There are issues with suspension of disbelief. A person with amazing superpowers? I suppose I can get on board with that. It's sci-fi / fantasy.

Fuck that, we should be importing Finns to raise our own levels of metalocity.
