Please, for the love of God, do not stop saving for your own retirement to pay off your mortgage and save for your kids’ college expenses. Yes retirement is likely a ways off in the future, but time is exactly what any good 401(k) or other retirement investment account needs. You can finance college expenses if needed…

The only reason I wouldn’t start a fight on a day like this is because it took a lot of time and effort for my mother to prepare a big Thanksgiving meal and I’d feel so ashamed seeing the disappointment in her face when everyone at the table is arguing instead of enjoying their meals.
All of this assumes that you’re not a dick to your kids when they’re growing up so that they still want to talk to you when you’re old.
