Hah, you’re right, Indiana is NOT worth it. I just feel a need to tell them to fuck off whenever I see the slightest opportunity. Plus my only Trump supporting relative lives there now, so...*flips off the general direction of Indiana*

Michigander, here. Yeah, the lakes are literally the one staunchly bipartisan thing, here. You come for the lakes (outsiders, anyway), and you get your ass handed to you.
I mean really its a big fuck you to all Americans. I live in California, but would like to see the Great Lakes one day. And would like my kid to see it too. But instead it seems we are going to see a lake filled with garbage and shit, and likely on fire. So, Yay! America! We all fucked ourselves, bigly!
I wouldn’t doubt that it is because of
IllinoisObama that Trump wants to cut funding to the great lakes out of spite becausemost of the state didn’t vote for himhe really fucking hates Obama (and is, in all likelihood, super-racist).
Fuck you, WI, MI, OH, PA. And Indiana, too.
Basically, their budget will be less than Donny has spent on playing golf since he took office
I’m from Michigan. Born and bred. I grew up in a really big hunting and fishing community, and my brother loved fishing so much he got a job that deals with conservation of rivers, lakes, and streams.
I’m from WI, but I’ve never been more ashamed of my state (and my country) than I was on election night. And coming from the state that puked up Walker, Ryan and Priebus, our shame knows no bounds anymore.
I work on an environmental remediation project on the GL, and it’s projected to end after 2018. I’ve been practicing my Edmund Fitzgerald karaoke so that I can surprise everyone at the end-of-project party with a stirring rendition.
These states will be the first to see the effects of free-range pollution, of course, but the Great Lakes affect other states as well. It’s just trickle down, folks.
Exactly. I can’t wait to see all the Michiganders who voted Trump and love to “go up north” for vacations and holidays standing slack-jawed at the shores of Lake Michigan when it’s all polluted and looks like shit.
Considering trump met with the big 3 during the election and guaranteed them less EPA regulation the fact that R constituents still voted for him is disgusting. Especially in Michigan! And the auto workers who voted for him have nobody to blame but themselves when the regs requiring respirators on the paint line at GM…
I live in Michigan, in a ritzy ass suburb that went for Trump (I live in the “poor” section). Multi million dollar mansions with huge Trump signs on their lawns were depressingly common during the election.
It’s gonna be really exciting when Lake Erie gets another algae bloom and nobody in northwest Ohio can drink their water again! Immortan Trump will love it. And since he’s been slow to help in natural disaster situations I guess we can’t expect the national guard to bring in water again.
I wouldn’t doubt that it is because of Illinois that Trump wants to cut funding to the great lakes out of spite because most of the state didn’t vote for him.
Hey - it affects Illinois too, and we didn’t vote for this fuckwad!
It’s like the story a few years back where they were making fun of spending $5 million on “beaver management”. But it turns out if you don’t spend the five million, the beavers build dams everywhere and you’ll spend ten times that dealing with the floods and other problems.
I have family in Michigan and Wisconsin who are very pro-Trump. Or.....they were. We’ll see how this goes over. You can mess with a lot, but DO NOT FUCKING MESS WITH THEIR LAKE.
I wonder if my Trump-voting, former EPA consultant father would have voted for him back in the 70s/80s when his colleagues were fixing the massive pollution problems in the Great Lakes.
This has been lighting up my Twitter feed for several days now, and the Congressional reaction from both sides of the aisle is not surprising - nobody outside the White House thinks the Coast Guard cuts are a good idea.
