I see your point and I happen to agree. This metric is a tool. Just because you wouldn’t use a saw to hang a picture doesn’t mean that tool is useless. When used appropriately, it has value.

I’ve been wondering if that was the reason I havent seen any mice in my basement (knock on wood). My neighbors have a cat who patrols our yards and despite the many gaps in my basement, I’ve been quite lucky. The cat in question is a bit of a jerk, but she sure seems to be pulling her weight!

While I share your hatred of them, my basement is home to many of them, they don’t really do much else than be creepy. At least not in my experience.
