Well, I'm not Evangelical, I'm Lutheran, but I think we do a pretty good job of reconciling the Bible with itself, and we definitely believe in absolute truth in black and white terms. And there's a huge intellectual tradition that arises out of Lutheranism, historically. Lutherans basically invented source criticism.

Wow.

Not to mention the anti-gay overtones in Islam, Bahá'í, many sects of the diverse Indian religions including parts of Hinduism and Sikhism, etc, etc.

No argument here. As a matter of fact, I know many Lutherans and Roman Catholics who dislike Joel Osteen more than almost anyone else. I can get where atheists are coming from, but sometimes when I hear Osteen preach I wonder if he's actually ever read the whole Bible.

As a Christian, I completely agree with you. I would say that the Christians who are shouting "Intolerance!!!" from their roof tops should probably use that time to re-read some of the passages of their Bibles about suffering gladly and imitating Christ.

You ever sat down and read this thing? Technically, we're not allowed to go to the bathroom.

Many GOP politicians who claim to be Christian are also not Christian.

Mine does that every once in a while too. It's also showing my actual picture now (albeit with a photoshopped santa hat) instead of my avatar.

Apologies for the typos, although now I'm kind of interested in seeing a movie called Die Another Die.

See, I think Walken is completely boring in View to a Kill - he doesn't even seem to be having any fun. There is exactly one part where he shows how great a gleefully unhinged Walken could be as a Bond villain. The rest is just a huge missed opportunity.

We also knew how bad a Bond movie could be thanks to "Moonraker," "A View to a Kill," freaking "The World is Not Enough." Did everyone get collective amnesia and forget how bad the Bond film right before Die Another Day was??

It's not the worst Bond film. Not by a significant margin. A View to a Kill and Moonraker are both much worse.

I'll upvote that, but even I don't believe that Adventure Time was the number one best show on TV this year.

I wish I could meet a hot Christian girl. For some reason, I keep dating Jewish women (who are also super hot.) They never want to tell their mothers about me.

She has been called Samantha too. I believe we're supposed to assume Samantha is an alias. Or maybe she just got tired of people messing up her name so much that she told everyone to call her that.

I don't know that I would place it above those two shows, but I agree Person of Interest is in my top three. And I never ever would have imagined I would someday say that after watching the pilot.

From what I've heard in those comments, I'm glad I haven't run into those fans. I do think that the writers have had a few shaky moments with Shaw, but overall I really like her, and of course I love Root.

The best joke that maybe 10 people got was when Gus expressed his extreme distaste for musicals that reuse a bunch of old songs. Dule Hill is currently on Broadway in After Midnight, a musical that is made up of old 1920s and 1930s jazz standards.

One day, AV Club is pimping a Hal Hartley movie, the next a Garbage Pail Kids doc.

Yeah, but a show can play for years now and never turn a profit. I know Shrek lost a ton of money, I'm pretty sure Legally Blonde lost quite a bit.
