Every time I hear that another swath of K Marts are closing, I worry. My hometown’s KMart (rural NY) is the only non-food store that’s standing. It’s a desperately poor area where many people’s lives are constrained by the fact that always-reliable cars are a luxury, and the KMart is a necessary walkable option.

Agreed. Or someone like REALLY lift Cardi to a platform that is higher than what she is aiming for.

I actually don’t even know how you would dance to this in the club. A light bob at the bar when you are waiting for a drink? Slow grind on someone in the corner?

I agree. I mentioned on another post that when I was first cuing up Bodak Yellow, I was ready for some fire. I was like, damn the way people are talking her up, she’s gonna blow the house down!

I think because of that - I want her to be a better rapper. I want her to have success but at the same time, she doesn’t want to be our feminist hero (which I get no one should have to be).

This needs to be printed/framed. Cardi B...trap music?!?!

To be honest, she is funny as hell (interviews) - but not sold musically on her appeal.

It’s literally nothing you haven’t heard before. Bitches don’t know me, I might take your boo or babe, I got the bag, I’m the hottest, you heard of me, and I have money, money, money, money.

I know we all want to carry an amazing black female rapper out on our shoulders as a hero... but she doesn’t do it for me.

WOOF - I agree on all except the Iggy part. I would run and hide because around here Iggy is like that dead battered horse that keeps coming for scraps and everyone keeps beating down - yet she won’t die.

There isn’t any appeal. She’s got money, a hardscrabble back story, and doesn’t mind fucking with men the same way they fuck with women. More power to her, but I don’t comprehend her as some kind of feminist darling. She just runs her mouth for the hell of it.

I feel you. As much as I’m happy for women to succeed and can acknowledge that her song might be part of cultural shift (I’m saying might, as I am white european living in very removed conditions from all the racial clashes, so it’s not my thing to discuss). Yet musically her song is trash and I can’t believe she is

Couldnt agree more.. I’m glad she is getting some shine but her bars are mediocre at best (and I’m being generous). I’m not a fan of pop rap but even mainstream hip hop of late has been so dumbed down with mumble raps and basic beats that it is kind of depressing of what is considered “hot”... Cardi is about as hip

I’m a cardi b fan but chill. The Beatles at least played their own instruments.

I am treading lightly, because I don’t want to bring up a bunch of old white men’s achievements in a thread that is praising a talented black woman.

TBH - Paul McCartney and George Harrison are / were extremely talented.

I know this will start a rage fire but...

GTA Online is a twisted window into another world, demonstrating how people would actually behave if there were no consequences for their actions. Thankfully, it’s only a video game, because I wouldn’t want to leave the house with a bunch of GTA loonies running around.
