I don’t understand why networks need to have the “big name” announcer. Any smart former player can provide that level of insight and if they expand the field to slightly less famous retired players they might actually see an improvement in announcing quality. It’s not like people were tuning into MNF to watch Jason

Most other athletes already know that joining a big-market team out of misplaced fealty to self-branding is an incredible waste of both time and money. This is especially true with the case of New York City... The cameras and sponsors come to you. You’re gonna be famous as shit no matter where you play, even if it’s

Yes! It’s coming baby! Just wait until teams are trading supplemental picks and crime points in the 2022 NFL Draft. It’ll make the mock draft process even wilder. Crime points play a role in a player’s fantasy points. There are endless possibilities cynically to profit off of this.

The perfect illustration of this was the Ray Rice incident. Everyone knew what had happened but before the video came out he got a 2 game suspension. After the video went viral and the league looked like a bunch of domestic violence enablers they essentially kicked him out of the league permanently. What changed? The

Yes, this is basically it. They don’t care about the victims, they only care about their image and making money.

Not what he was saying.

I don’t think that was his point at all. I think he was just trying to point out that firing someone can have unintended consequences that further hurt the victims. None of the plans presented in the article take that into account and they ought to.

I thought the “oh, so you only care about protecting abusers?” replies you got were missing the point and in bad faith. I read your initial comment as a well meaning attempt to try and seek a more thoughtful solution than, “kick him out of the league,” that also considers the victims’ financial futures as well.

Van Gundy never crosses the line.

Please tell me it’s a Titans-era Collins jersey.

Tell us again why Giants’ fans should have absolutely any confidence in Daniel Jones?

I’ve been a fan of the NFL during a time that had pretty good quarterbacks—Steve Young, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Russell Wilson. I’ve led a charmed life with the quarterbacks I’ve watched play. I know what good ones look like.

No, you are totally right about Cousins also being an anomaly if included there. I also went back and looked up the career numbers for Cousins and Collins, and Cousins is far better. I officially retract my earlier pro-Collins statement.

Nothing better than starting the work week with a healthy Kerry Collins debate.

I hate Gettleman so I’m not going to defend his comments. I do think that Kerry Collins is overly ripped on retrospectively. He was never a great QB by any stretch but he was a consistent starting caliber QB who occasionally strung together enough good performances to help his team get to the playoffs. If he was

No Gettleman is right on this count. In 2020, Jones is going to lead the Giants to the #1 overall pick and the next GM can draft Trevor Lawrence.

Beyond being evidence that Gettleman was truly bothered by everyone clowning on him for taking Jones

I mean, I’d totally respect that reason more than whatever actual reason they had for picking him at #6.
