Volkswagen takes the safety and security of its customers very seriously... unless we want more money.  Now that we got our $150, our thoughts are with the victims and their family. Volkswagen has a procedure in place with a third-party provider for Car-Net Support Services involving emergency requests from law

I think you’re on the wrong side of this argument. I would argue that corporate greed kept them from helping find a lost child until a fee had been paid. I think VW’s service provider could also afford to skip the fee, help some people who were victims of a crime and generate some goodwill.

So why exactly is an 18 year-old car with over 100k miles commanding $8500? There’s nothing at all special about this car.

Who is paying almost 20 percent over msrp for their cars? Not anyone I know. I paid 600 over for my Bolt EV to get it while I could get 2500 in rebates and the 7500 tax credit and I’m still a bit mad about it.

That the Versa is on this list is proof that supply and demand economics no longer apply in our society, because nobody. and i mean NOBODY actually wants a Versa.

At the same time, I find it sad that the irony will be lost on them.

How this happened... Kid’s book version.

“I never thought that leopards would eat MY face” etc

It’s all bullshit wasteful spending & interference! (until I needs it.)

If people don’t plug in their plug-ins, then what makes them good candidates for all BEVs.

Boggles the mind that saving $20-40/month didn’t seem to factor into people’s behavior”

I practically never use fuel in my Volt - my best “tank” (8.9 gallons) was about 7200 miles one year. But plugging it in is absolutely critical - something I did every night.

This.

I disagree. PHEVs are (or should be) the gateway drug to EVs. It solves the range anxiety people have while providing the ability to be almost entirely in ‘EV’ mode for daily usage.

I was gonna say- the EU’s EV range standard is plain screwy to begin with. So this is not a ‘PHEV’ problem per se.

It isn’t “for nothing”. Even if you never charge your PHEV you will get better gas mileage and less emissions than a similar full ICE car. You will still actively charge the batteries just like a hybrid every time you slow down or let off the gas. But I agree, if you have a PHEV, you should be actively charging at

It’s been fought by conservatives who are told by their talk radio overlords that trains are communist since the first light rail lines were started in the early 2000s.

I think that’s how a lot of Japanese commute looks like students and workers

They do seem to be trying to add a somewhat usable rail system here but it has predictably been a slog to get anything actually done.

Anyone in California has been able to walk into a Toyota dealership and buy or lease a Mirai (not “Miraj”, LOL) since 2015.

Not that that is a good idea, or that many people have actually done that over the last 7 years.
