It was beautiful and flew well, even though it was underpowered. The intention was to use a turboprop for production versions, although that never happened. The plan was to create "Ocean liners for the sky" and it was opulent, but horribly uneconomical to a nation still reeling from war.

Or breath the fumes

The title is wrong, this thing is tractible and Helmut survived. The power is extreme, but definitely controllable.

Most welcome. The mists of time have caused a lot of historical machinery to be forgotten. Those of us who appreciate cool stuff can share on the internet. Take care.

You want beautiful? Would you also like that very fast?

Lot of truth to that. Keep the rubber side down bro.

That's just sociopathic

But can you bet five dead for $5?

Hope you have your flame proof riding suit on!!

Biker bump tag?

LOL, I'll go $5 for 5.

Good points, and I would bet that MOST of the Sturgis folks ride without lids at all. And I am a motorcyclist.

Yeah, 60 bucks is like hitting the lottery.

Geesh, I agree that it is more about newspaper headlines. Get a bunch of people together, drink heartily and ride motorcycles which have unique handling characteristics and people are likely to get hurt and/or die.

Loud pipes save lives. Works especially well in creek beds.

Total douchbaggery. Riding this way on a public highway is dangerous in the extreme and a good reason we bikers get the name "Organ donors."

Hey, it crashes about LIKE a leaf. The whole front structure is like, GONE.

Bad enough to go through this in your car, but can you imagine being the motorcyclist? If it was a "Harley guy" he will have a real hard time polishing that turd.

Wow, prayers for all involved. Stewart alone knows what his intent was when he gunned the engine. We simply don't know the facts of what happened yet. Perhaps we won't for some time. Tony has to live with what happened and will no doubt have some sleepless nights, no matter his intentions. We can draw conclusions

Actually this concept came pretty darn close to reality with "Dyna Soar" from the early 1960s in the USA. There was even a plan, at one time to use the X-15 rocket plane in a similar manner. Alas, both did not come to fruition.
