Threes is pretty good and it does beat the games you mention. But not Danganronpa, because Monokuma beats the s*it of basically everything.

If you want to get familiar with the Yakuza series, do yourself a favour and start with Yakuza 4 instead of Dead Souls. Dead Souls was great for fans of the franchise (I liked it), but I won't pretend that it was universally acclaimed! You might be disappointed, then, and it would be a shame.

Depends, really. As far as the cast goes, I preferred the 1st one . But it doesn't mean I didn't like the 2nd: I enjoyed every bit it had to offer as well. And I can't wait for the next one: even if there has been no announcement yet, it seems like a given.
