@typica1cat: Aurora Borealis is, if not common, then at least not rare in northern Europe. I've personally seen it many times in Denmark which isn't further north than Nova Scotia. I've also seen it in Donegal in Ireland.
@thepolarbear: I've experienced the dark red aurora borealis in Denmark and Greenland as well. When almost all of the sky above you is the color of blood, and you are 10 years old - let's just say there is some hiding behind daddy's coat.
Does anyone remember an indie SF film about a guy who builds a robot copy of himself, which then develops feelings for his housekeeper. It is set in a post-apocalyptic soviet-style environment.

@Pope John Peeps II: Some parts are quite beautiful. Unfortunately most of this old country is covered in farmland and the natural forests and heathers are almost all gone.
Some of the largest flocks of birds moving in this way are in southern Denmark. Starlings fly in enormous groups and are called Black Sun or Sort Sol in Danish. The flocks sometimes number over a million birds.
