Saying he “slapped his name on” a movie implies that he didn’t have much to do with it personally, but he directed all four of the movies listed in the first sentence. If you were trying to say that it’s arrogant to put your name in front of a movie’s title, well, yeah, it is, but that’s not what that idiom means.

Can I say, just for the record that Meth Damon is growing up.

Eat shit, incel cunt.

Here’s the thing. You’re projecting your expectations on me: my race, my ability to understand the purpose of the song, and my perspective on racism in French society and the legacy of colonialism. The truth is we agree on just about everything you said, except of course that because this is “Art” it ought to be

Simplistic take. Elides the obvious difference in messages - “look at this terrible thing and reckon with it” vs. “this terrible thing is justified, even desirable”; the difference between advocating for racial violence and calling attention to it is obviously salient. If you can’t see that, well, there’s no point in

Probably because a film dramatization of a horrible thing is easier to distinguish from a call to action, compared to someone actually saying “do a horrible thing” in a song.

Surely there’s a difference between a movie that shows instances of racist violence that are either historical or intended to demonstrate the sickness of those actions, and a music video that actively calls for killing people because of their race? This is a false equivalency of the highest order. Ditto comparing it

I always hang my whites. The dryer always does a number on them.

The documentary bio from the previous episode is also worth mentioning.

I still don’t know what mythical mom and pop video stores y’all used to go to. Mine wouldn’t have shit. Some of the stuff was damaged. Anything new or cool was checked out. Is this like nostalgia for 8-tracks?

“Jérémie Renier”?! Really? When did we give France permission to make their own Jeremy Renner? I don’t even particularly like him but now I feel fiercely defensive of him.

So, this is not really about the TV show so much as it is about how much you hate the fact it was made into a TV show and not, say, a movie. Is that about right?

While that may be a valid argument, especially if it did not break up into natural chapter endings, is this meant as a one-off or is there a planned series?

Some people have very busy schedules. And setting aside 120 minutes to watch a movie is difficult. But finding time for 22 minutes or 44 minutes a few times a week is easy.

People got a little up in arms about Bright. It was fine. It’s not the best movie you saw in 2017, but it was far from the worst, no matter what Katie thought about it. There was some enjoyable stuff, and it set the stage and opened a few doors to explore a fun world. That’s all the first movie was - to give a setting

Oh see I thought Krysten Ritter would show up and super punch her through the opposite wall then ransack her kitchen for booze.

Actually the episode’s title references the Black Museum, an Old Time Radio show that was hosted/narrated by Orson Welles and the actual Black Museum, a crime museum in London, which served as the basis for the radio show and inspired the museum in the Black Mirror episode.

Indeed. I’m pretty sure I recognise the director’s name from Hannibal, where the direction often outshine the scripts, so it’s not a huge surprise. That show of Bella looking out over the cliff and seeing the dog pelting along the road was incredibly dread-inducing. One of my favourite horror shots in years.

It’s not just about chosen family, it’s about what family means to Eleven and Kali. Kali is clearly motivated by anger, and she uses other people to satisfy her sense of injustice. But Kali clearly connected with Eleven in a way she didn’t with the rest of her unremarkable gang. She felt a loss motivated by some kind

Before seeing 2049 I re-watched the Director’s Cut of the original. I hadn’t seen it in years so I was kind of surprised by how good it actually is. I almost cried during that scene where Sean Young lets down her hair. But re-watching it might have been a mistake because I didn’t really love 2049 that much. It

Can I just say I love that they gave the supposed-to-be-hot bad boy a mullet.
