They are 265's on 10.5" rims. That’s a 10.43" tread pattern. Please tell me how you figure 7 hundredths of an inch of stretch distorts the tread so much it’s loosing traction.

You use the word “stance”, not “stretched tire”. In this case it appears that all the tread is in contact with the roller. So even if the tire is stretched onto a bigger rim (doesn’t look like it to me) the same amount of tread will be available for grip. A stanced alignment would impact the amount of tread making…

From the speedhunters article, it looks like this AE86 is running 17x9 with 255/35/17 in front and 18x10.5 with 265/35/18 in rear. Hardly stretched.
