Probably meant to say "worthwhile games."

Good. Because here is the thing: I would buy this Day 1 if they committed to supporting PC. I have a PS5, I like it, but I don’t foresee using the VR headset on that enough to justify the cost, but an foveated rendering, eye-tracking lightweight, high-res headset that I could also plug in for PCVR? Easy purchase at

And what Sony still does? Fuck yes they should.

This whole thing is so weird for me. I don’t really stan Microsoft, but the number of stakeholders that seem hell bent on holding Microsoft to a standard they don’t hold other companies to is kind of mind boggling. Microsoft IS NOT the dominant player in either the Console market nor the Game Development market.

Microsoft needs to do what Sony does. Pay for 1 year exclusivity for CoD ad infinitum if the merger doesnt go through. That way they get the old CoD when the new one comes out on Xbox. Petty but thats what Sony and these “gamers” are being.

I’m generally all for anti-trust laws but in this case you have a company known for a generally respectful workplace and decent pay (relative to the standards of corporate America) taking over an absolute cesspool of a company that has treated their female employees and customers like crap. Seems like the lives of

My question is, because I haven’t seen it broken down anywhere else, what real advantage would MS have if they like, suddenly made CoD exclusive? As far as I know, most people still play it on PC and I didn’t realize enough people played it on Sony consoles for this to be that big of a deal. Even the few people I know

Reading the.. case filed. Im not sure the people are in the right head space. most of these are weak arguments. I believe they are filing simply to stop CoD from falling under MS’s control. Which again, weak argument.

So whats stopping Blizzard from selling off its IP’s then. Sell the IP’s to Microsoft and reform a brand new company with the same people.

Well, if you would have told me that ten years after the release of FFXII, I would never again be interested in a mainline FF, I would have told you you were crazy!

Phil Spencer told Washington Post that they expect to keep the deal going after 10 years but just for the purposes of the contract they put in 10 years:

There’s something ironic about Sony being so hostile to this deal. Their history is flush with them locking competitors out of AAA titles.

They offered a 10 year CoD deal to Sony (which they haven’t taken yet) and offered the same deal to Nintendo (who took it). It’s hard to make the case that you wouldn’t be competitive without Call of Duty when Nintendo exists.

At this point its been in the work for years so MS is going to spend the money to fight it. Honestly sure they knew they would have to from the beginning. At the end of the day the deal will almost certainly happen but Microsoft will most likely be put under specific rules around how they can operate the new assets.

If you put up $70bil for Activision, you aren’t really sweating millions in legal fees. This feels like the result of Sony trying to make up for a lack of foresight in the subscription/content acquisition by gumming up the works for Microsoft. One way to be “right” about keeping first party games off subscription

Same, I have a PS4 that just collects dust. It was great for playing TLOU, God of War and Horizon, but I still prefer my Xbox for 3rd party or Gamepass.

Yeah, it lacks first-party games, but it still has a massive third-party library. I get all my third-party games on Xbox because it has free cloud saves, free next-gen upgrades, comes with a free PC copy, and seamless cross-save to PC, which is far far more than I’d get buying the same game on PlayStation.

I mean, MS hasn’t owned COD for... 21 years since their console has existed? And they aren’t dead yet? I think it’s safe to say they were fine not owning it.

If anyone is curious, Microsoft didn’t buy Activision for COD. As nice as COD is, and as big a brand as it is, Microsoft bought Activision for King. King makes mobile titles. Those mobile titles have literally 4 to 5 times as many users as COD has ever had. Those mobile games rake in more than triple the amount COD

I think that particular problem belongs in the category “Don’t care. Go fuck yourself. Gotta get back to work.”
