I have a family friend that is, by any definition, wealthy. They live in a beautiful home in one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in America. They own about 500 acres of farmland just outside of a major metropolitan area, and don’t grow anything on this fertile land.

Doing things to decriminalize non violent drug possession and removing mandatory minimums for non violent crimes would dramatically reduce the prison population and reduce cost in multiple ways, not even looking at the knock on positive effects of ending the effects of mass incarceration on inner city populations.

As much as I despise Cheetoh Brain and his minions. agricultural subsidies need to end, completely I guess even a broken, insane, dysfunctional clock is right once in a great while.

Except far too much of farm subsidies go to large agribusinesses like ADM. I have less problem with Farmer Joe getting a subsidy to keep his farm going that I do to ADM and others like it getting billions.

The government props up farmers, and if they didn’t, they’d be even poorer and a bigger net negative.

Dont interpret this as me supporting this budget or anything else Trump related but there should be something done about the subsidies that we give farmers. The amount of corn we grow in this country is goddamn insane and there is no reason for us to be growing it to put in our gas tanks.

So. Much. This. I’m meticulous about formatting my documents and each time I’ve tried to switch over to a Google Docs workflow I’m infuriated at how poor the feature matching is. Word just blows Docs out of the water for formatting, which baffles me because it seems like Google has no care about matching them
