I thought it was because Superman, with his super senses and Daily Planet connections, didn’t realize that a masked vigilante had been operating in the city just across the bay from him for years until be became a homicidal super villain.

I thought it sucked because Batman was a homicidal super villain until he finds out that Superman’s mom has the same name as his mom.

Shitty story that makes no fucking sense? Incredibly poor acting? Zero chemistry between any and all of the actors? Crap direction? Yes, the movie sucked exactly because of the reasons I thought.

LOL. I really hope the “made of chemicals” was a joke.

This is why we need GMO foods.

It’s absolutely hysterical that not only did Ramona date and dump Superman and Captain America, but that Scott Pilgrim beats them both.

Really? You’re using an argument from Mallrats as a basis for why Supes can’t have kids?

But Superman, like you said, is pretty much the definition of the clear good guy — WB/DC is just terrified that most people feel like you, that he’s boring as a good guy. (And not without reason — this was basically conventional wisdom in the ‘80s/’90s, at least until he died.)

There was nothing, nothing, nothing wrong with Brandon Routh’s performance. He was a fantastic Superman.

That’s fine. Every character isn’t for everyone, but yiu should never sacrifice what makes that character unique to get a larger audience. Batman shouldn’t be made happier, Wolverine & The Punisher shouldn’t take vows against killing and Peter Parker shouldn’t get over his neuroses. But for some reason everyone wants

That’s a good point, but given what we’ve seen with characters on Arrow no longer being made available, I think there’s a solid argument for WB simply not putting any characters on TV they think they can make you pay for. Simply being on The CW vs CBS simply isn’t enough to get a pass.

I disagree. This has to do with licensing. CW is partly owned by WB, which basically means they can give the show free reign over all DC characters. WB certainly would have had reservations about putting its flagship character on a competing network. Now it’s an easy decision.

Fact: Spider-Man has more lines in Captain America: Civil War than Superman has in Batman v Superman. You know, a movie with his name in the title.

Might not have had anything to do with the movie. Could be that somebody at DC looked at season 1 and realized that the only thing the restriction accomplished was making them look stupid.

I think Berlanti’s Superman will be the kinder, gentler Supes we’ve all grown to love.

I mean it’s the CW, they at least show a modicum of respect to the comics.

Pretty much. Same thing with Game of Thrones, whenever someone dares to voice a concern about the treatment of women on the show, some dudebro has to chime in with “They’re just being realistic!” Yeah, ok. Come talk to me when people stop giving birth to murderous shadow babies, dragons don’t exist anymore, people

True. At least neither of those demolished the spirit of the character out of some misguided notion of ‘realism'.

Too make it good, you have to over-analyse it. The same thing that I did with Pacific Rim (2013). It is a brilliantly stupid movie.
