Totally different architecture, the PS4 isn't beefy enough to emulate the PS3 as the PS3 has an incredibly strange hardware setup. The only way they could realistically run PS3 games on the PS4 is if they included the chips from the PS3 too, raising the cost, power consumption, and likely size.

Makes me doubt their plans for the PS3 game streaming thingie, the more they do this.

Why does every single release on ps4 or x1 need a day 1 patch to work? Now a days they need several patches just to function as a complete game. It is mind blowing how bad the state of AAA releases are these days.
