False: Heavy Traffic and Coonskin are bizarrely enthralling, parts of Hey Good Lookin' are great, and there's usually at least one or two visuals in each of his films that bowl me over. Great in bits and pieces, just can't pull it together.
I enjoyed Bakshi's version as a Rings film starved 11-year-old before the Jackson version came out. Since then, I've never looked back.
