From what I've learned with my car and blowing exhaust/wastegate gasses over a curved section of the body.. that may create a local low pressure zone that reduces drag and help pull the flow ahead of it along faster as well as help in evacuating the rear wheel wells via those louvres.

The rules say that the cars floor (and therefore the diffusor) must be closed. Audi has found a gap by blowing exhaust gas through the wheel arches. What makes this unattractive for 2014 is the higher fuel consumption.

The Mustang seems pretty close to what is being tested as seen in the new spy shots. Also, the Volt wasn't a render. That's the actual Volt Concept.

Usually there's also this round thing in front of you with a needle in it and a bit of orange or red to tell you when.

I hate to piss on everyones parade but the engine already vibrates to tell you to change gears. When you have both hands on your wheel like you should, you would notice exactly when to change.
