In 1988 I ordered a 16V Jetta GLI from Grant Road VW in Tucson (no longer in business). I’d wanted it in silver but they could only find one in white at a Las Vegas VW dealership, from where it was transported to Tucson. When I inspected it at home the next day, I could see daylight in the trunk thru the fender seam…
