You mean this 412 (they call it 612 RS) that has a twin turbo 911 3.2l, 911 suspension and brakes, 930 transmission, and 996 interior?
As a graphic designer all I can say is... “damn that is hard to read”.
There are some cars I think look pretty good with a chop. 49-50 Mercury comes to mind. But I’m going to go ahead and say I don’t like this. The proportions just look bad to me. The taller roof just suits these cars much better from a style and design perspective.
My emotional reaction leans more toward the repulsion side of things.
As far as the general publics emotional appeal, it probably doesn’t hurt to have everyone from all the car sites, to the evening news, to tech websites, to just straight up random Facebook ads purporting your brand of car as the greatest things…
Unless you wanted the V6, a sunroof, and leather seats. Then Hyundai told you to go pound sand or buy the econo 4cyl model with cloth.
By design... put it in the base model trim and complain when no one bought one. Then have a committee meeting that decides to get rid of it as a cost savings on R&D for U.S. emissions and crash standards.
As a person who until very recently owned a B4 Passat GLX wagon with a VR6 with a 5spd manual, I call shenanigans. I loved having a fully optioned, “executive class” vehicle with a throaty 6cyl engine and a row your own gearbox. Sadly when it came time to replace this car, absolutely nothing like it was available in…
*It’s amazing what they can get away with. GM slipped my previous fun car, the GTmonarO. into the country by claiming it was “close enough” to a Grand Prix.
Well... I’ll grant you the it’s “more attractive” but even it wasn’t a looker. The last good looking Accords sold this millennium, they didn’t sell here, at least not as Hondas. The Euro Accords were the lookers of the bunch.
You could get one here, you just had to shell out the Acura Tax for a TSX to get it. That…
I’m looking on a few sites and on the wiki page for the Rennie and I think you may be right. the 1.4t only came with a 6mt in North America. The 9a was a Europe and China only option on that engine. So, you may be right. The one I drove was a 2.4 with a 9a. Its been more than a few years, but I could have sworn it was…
Admittedly I haven’t given the Fit much of a second look since the end of the second generation and it became slightly more mini-minivan like proportioned. But this news does actually make me a little sad to see it go.
Totally unsurprising. The Yaris, Fiesta and Sonic have been euthanized.
Kind of like 4 door only GTIs. I remember all the weeping and gnashing of teeth when that happened too.
I buy manuals.. I don’t buy an Accord manual because its a kind of terrible looking car (well that and I’m a few years into my current manual car and still making payments on it.) Granted trim levels make a difference, but I mean my God this was awful....
I kind of dig the 308 GT4. Looks way better than a Mondial at the very least. I saw a race prepped one running Mid Ohio a few weeks ago and I really liked it.
Entry level... I suppose, but still not as lowly as a Mondial.
And as far as Porsche goes, my God 914s and 944s are bringing $30k plus these days which I find to be absolutely insane! Hell my dad had a 914 that he bought for like $1,500 in the 90s. In typical hindsight, I kick myself, because I so should have picked…
Yeah I would say at least every 3rd Renegade I saw was a tarted up Trailhawk with the 2.4. I test drove a Latitude with 1.4t (which is the same engine I have in my Abarth and love) and completely disliked the way it drove. The auto trans was awful. It hunted gears at odd times. At others, it sprinted to get in top…
They have been declining steadily, however if you are a manufacturer with bean counters building to a bottom dollar, you can suppress them even further artificially by putting them in undesirable packages and lack of options. Then you can justifiably do away with them all together and save on the R&D in the name of,…
Not to mention very few dealers keeping them on lots.
