American Dad gets far better when MacFarlane steps away creatively, since he’s gotten his sister steady work at that point, and they pick up some great creative talent from Harvey Birdman around season 3 or 4. It becomes apparent something has changed with the show at that point.

They changed writing staff and picked up some really great talent from Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law. I think that’s around the third or fourth season. It’s genuinely great when episodes have that chaotic Harvey Birdman spirit.
