I mean, you’re also comparing two games with vastly different art styles, shaders, and Shantae also uses 2D characters, so doesn’t have as many polygons to render. As long as the game runs at a consistent 30 FPS, then it’ll be fine.

I mean, well-done pixel art can often take more time and money than 3D models. SotN also did a LOT of asset-stealing from previous Castlevania games for some of the minor enemy sprites so they didn’t have to make everything from the ground up.
The minimal Switch interface was a little bit of a shock after the interfaces for the Wii , 3DS and Wii U, but I’ve come to appreciate just how good it is. I don’t run into stupid ads all over like on XBox, it loads and responds super-fast unlike the menus on the PS4. It just does what it needs to and stays out of the…
Importantly, now I can remake the Smashketball map I had in Smash 4.
Fully enclosed arena except for two pits in the floor, and cannons on the “baskets” so if you hit someone into one it would launch them straight down the gaps.
The whole quest was great fun, and I had a stupid grin on my face when you got to do Link-Strikes in combat with Noctis. Also, the WoL continues their spree of stealing pants from people. (Camp overnight with Noctis and get his pants the next day? Oh baby)
The ending however, as much as it was trying to be bittersweet, …
Well, Smash Bros fighters have always sort of been toys (dolls or trophies or whatever), so maybe he’s just splattering the life-giving magic out of them.
I was kind of hoping that Joker’s Final Smash would be Satanael firing the giant gun at the stage, but in my heart knew that it would be the all out attack. I’m glad to see it’s kept all the style intact.
So... Baba is through?
Blizzard definitely knew what they were doing back in the day with WoW. They hired on top-tier Everquest players and found out what the problems were with the game so they didn’t end up making the same mistakes. I still think it’s hilarious that mild-mannered Jeff Kaplan was a profanity-spewing hardcore Everquest…
It’s definitely a product of its time, but even back then there’s a reason why WoW was such an instant hit, because it cut out a ton of the stuff in EQ that was bullshit.
EQ I put on the same level of grinding and bullshit as Ragnarok Online.
I personally miss the old crew of the Weatherlight (Sisay, Mirri, Gerrard, etc), but I have a soft-spot for air pirates.
This is all both surprising and not surprising all at the same time. There have been tons of murmurs about how horrible Frostbite is to work with, so that’s the least surprising bit of this all.
It’s a little surprising how poor the organization was for various things though, and how things just fell apart because of…
As someone who starting playing way back before Planeswalkers were a card type, I’m still a little on the fence on how I feel about them. On the one hand, it’s got to be helpful to have a set of recurring characters to market the game around, and they do have a bit more charisma than say Urza, but as a card type, they…
The fiscal year in Japan starts on April 1, so despite April Fool’s day being a thing there, you will occasionally see actual real announcements on April 1.
I really enjoyed playing AC:Origins and AC:Odyssey, but I do miss the actual Assassin / Templar conflict, and hope we get back to it in the future.
I also miss actually assassinating people. Like I said, I enjoyed Odyssey, but it seemed like if I didn’t put every single piece of equipment toward boosting Assassinate…
It’s a shame that it’s kind of a mess, because early impressions made it seem interesting, and I’m always glad when a developer gets to make the game they want to make instead of catering to a publisher’s demands.
For all the issues you mentioned, do you think they’re things that could be ironed out with a better…
Just because something “goes way back” doesn’t mean it’s good.
There’s a reason why all modern versions of D&D assert very early on that gender has absolutely no bearing on a character’s stats.
The only thing they can’t change is the size and mounting of the joy-cons. The streets would run red if people who bought a full set of joy-cons were told they suddenly wouldn’t work with the new system. (I realize they could probably still work wirelessly, but that sort of defeats the whole purpose of portable mode.)
This was pretty much an insta-buy for me as soon as I got home last night. Blaster Master Zero was a great remake / retelling of Blaster Master, and I can’t wait to see what they came up with now that they’re not constrained by sticking to the original game. The “restore SP by falling from heights / taking damage” is…
I kickstarted this, so I have the software and one of the flashers, and well, it’s a good starting point, but the tool is far from finished. To their credit though, they’ve been listening to the community, and have been updating it with regularity to address concerns and wants, so it’s getting better all the time. I…
