FE’s Counters somewhat make sense. Within the games, there’s a an attack, then counterattack mechanic. IMO, counterer should take some damage, then attack back. The full block and retaliate is a bit odd I agree.

There are skills involved, and the game puts those to the test. I fail to see how that isn’t a “challenge”. Not all obstacles in a game are challenging, but some certainly are.
